Today in gym, we had a substitute. We have been doing line dancing for the past 3 weeks. Today we did testing on it. There's this dance called Hot Hot Hot. Its the easiest and almost everybody did it. Our sub said 'They're only doing Hot Hot Hot two more times...You're all hot hot hot'
Everybody just backed away from him. We all thought it was kind of creepy for a teacher to say that to a bunch of 8th graders.
Another guy in my class said I was being racist because he was Arabian. Which I didn't even know until the guy in my class said it.
Do you think the sub crossed the line by saying that?

If your sub was Arabian, I know for a fact sometimes when your natural language is not English people tend to get "lost in translation". What you might consider crossing the line he might consider normal because in his mind his translation worked. It can be very difficult sometimes for people using English as a second language, because our language has so many forms of slang, and sometimes there is no direct translation. I have a friend that is just learning English and she swears all the time and it is hilarious because she says it thinking it is normal whereas she doesn't understand what a curse really means.

I think he was just messing around. He can get fired and not being able to substitute anymore for saying that. But who really knows these days. I hope he was just joking though

He was probably joking. But don't make it bigger than it was, or else you might make him lose his job just for a little joke.
