I'm sure there are many ages . My bet is when she becomes interested in boys.Or if someone her age tells her.She may even ( just to upset you ) care for herself less . Offer some awards . When she isn't told and does , let her know you noticed " WOW ! I can't believe how great you look, I always knew you were beautiful ,but WOW ." Take pictures at both times. Let her hear you show off the ones with her hair done and a smile.Maybe let her get her hair done professionally once in a while.I wouldn't worry about 11 being normal , JUST Wait until she's 15 or so . She'll really have you going crazy ! She hasn't begin those changes yet .

Right now it sounds like your 11 year old is still a child. It is normal. We all mature at different times, and she doesn't sound like she is there yet. Perhaps doing activities with her that will encourage the behaviors you want to see will help her out. Take her to a class on how to do make up - make sure it includes proper skin care - face washing and whatnot. It does sound normal to me though!

My little cousin is the same way!!It bugs the heck out of me.I have to tell her do this, do that.It doesn't help that her mom doesn't tell her what she needs to do either.Shes a very pretty girl.i think it is pretty normal, shell get at the stage where people start teasing, and making fun of her, then shell want to care about her appearance and especially when boys get to be in the picture.

We had to bug my niece at that age too, but after a while she started doing it on her own, I think around 11 and 12 is when they start to realize the importance of it.

I was a hardcore butch of a girl. A tomboy. But right about 12 years old, I did all that every day....even got interested in things like perfume.LOL!

even a very immature girl should really want to keep up the good hygiene by 12

not to be mean but when she notices that she doesnt smell good after not taking care of herself maybe then she will get the clue of importance
