My niece moved in with me and my boyfriend last week and she will be living with us from now on so we're making one of the rooms into her bedroom. Yesterday we went to a store to choose a bed for her and she says she wants a double bed because it's bigger and more comfortable (which I understand fully and have no problem with) but the salesperson looked surprised and said it is not common for kids to have double beds. But I canĀ“t see a reason why she couldn't get one. What do you guys think? It is weird?

Nah, I used to sleep on a full size bed on top bunk of a bunk bed growing up so I don't see what's wrong with it. Better to jump on too :]

It's very common for children that age to have double beds. We do in my family! They're bigger, more comfy and IF you have a sleepover with a friend, no one is on the floor! It's also a lot more pleasant to look at instead of bunk beds which are "little kid" beds LOL.

The sales attendant shouldn't really voice their opinion. They're job is to sell beds to people that want to buy them. That's like going to a store to buy a stove and the sales guy saying, only poor people buy that one, buy the more expensive one so you look rich. It's no one business except yours.

I got my first double bed when i was around 13. But i know a family that has 4 children and all of the children have been in a double bed since they could walk. No i don't think it is weird.

No, I nearly always had a double bed as a kid and all my nieces and Nephews have double beds except for my nephews who have bunk beds

No, I think it's pretty common. Also, you won't have to buy a bigger one later.
