I want to take him out this weekend, but not the usual dinner or movies. Am looking for something fun and "outside of the box" that doesn't have to empty out my bank account! Am open to any sugg. thanks

My 10 year old son likes to go to the lake, stand on the dock and feed the fish scraps of bread (that we bring from home). Hiking trails are always nice. Sometimes I will take my son and let him shop--hand him $10.00 and let him shop on his own at a $1.00 shop (kids learn about paying taxes and how much they can actually buy--also educational).

I take my kids to the $1 theatre and we can see a couple of movies in an afternoon. We then go to Wendy's and get 3 things from the .99 menu.

We also go to the park and play tennis, basketball, or feed the ducks.

Go to the library get some movies, make popcorn, and have a fun evening at home.

Sit down with your son and talk about it!! That will be almost as fun as the actual outing!! Ask him where he would like to go!!

Have a good time!!

You can ask him invite some friends with him for a drive. Go to some picnic spot let him enjoy freely. Eleven year olds like being with friends and little freedom.

I like the bowling idea. Very cheap and loads of fun. My kids love roller skating and that's cheap and fun too.

take him to an videogame arcade, like chucky cheese or slinky action zone, he will have a blast, get plenty to eat and it wont break the bank.

take him to a big empty field and let him drive your car he will love that, or maybe horseback riding of let him choose, give him lots of hugs and kisses
