I have to say that i'm sick of being told that we are a bad country and i'm sick of everyone else in the world thinking were dumb arses and we can't do anything, but really we're working our butt's off to be the best dam adults and become succesful. I'm sick of hearing about how we're not smart enough, how we didn't make the P.E average, how our schools suck in math and how fat we are when really most of us go out and play every dam day and ride our bikes and walk our dogs and do chores. Yeah i know, "Life sucks, get over it" but this isn't fair. We don't get a chance. I hate how we're called lazy and dumb and we get bad glares. We're all just kids and personally, I just want to be a kid and do kid's stuff. I don't want so much homework, I don't want so many tests, I want to go out and play ball with my friends instead of being trapped inside doing a project. My dad and mom got to do that, why can't I. :(

I agree, my state won't shut up about our bad math scores.

There was a whole thread just bashing America on a forum I went on, everyone was flaming the citizens for Bush's stupid actions :<

I hate it how people just hate on us and we get all this crap

I think I would do better on things If I didn't have to stay up all night doing homework!

We wouldn't have so much trouble finding time to exercise if we didn't have so much home work, I know there are so many days I just want to ride my bike, but can't because of, you guessed it, my big-@$$ pile of homework ):< And no matter how much time you manage, we're just still buried with it D:

Are you really an American? I've never once heard one use the word "arses." Usually it's the Aussies, Scots and Brits who use it, so I'm surprised.

Who is glaring at you? If you're in America, then it's odd that other Americans would glare at you for being an American. Anyway, never mind the stereotype. Just focus on doing your personal best.

As an American living in Canada, I can say that the stereotypes aren't that bad. I mean, yeah, I here laugh and make jokes about America, and George Bush, but at the same time, I do hear people complain about how America is better than Canada. And I have some relatives from foreign countries who say that they still see America as a powerful country. :]

Yeah, the American stereotypes are pretty bad, and I've seen a lot of people who actually believe them and hate American citizens because of it.

EDIT

While it is true that many Americans fit the stereotypes (these stereotypes have to start somewhere, don't they?), the fact is that it's not all true. You can't generalize an entire nation, millions of people strong. There are fat, lazy, dumb people EVERYWHERE. Not just in America.

Life is different for kids in modern times. The stereotypes about American children are, on average, true. That does not mean that you have to become that stereotype. Take action and prove everyone wrong. Organize something in your school to make other kids take action.

As far as all the "hard work" kids have to do it's nothing. Learning how to manage work time and fun time is what the rest of your life is going to be about. Get your projects and homework done ASAP then you will have time to play and be active. Getting good grades ensures you a broad selection of careers in the future. Jobs that will require less work for more money and more fun! Prepare for the best life you can achieve.

Are you in America, or a different country? You never specified and I'm a bit confused.

I'm in America, and there are certain stereotypes and there isn't anything we can do about it. Also, America does have a high percentage of obese people, I'm not being rude, it's a fact; and that is probably why people say this.

I agree 100%. I've heard bad things about other countries, but I know that they're not true and that there are good and bad people everywhere. But I'm sure not everyone believes this about America, just the way we don't believe everything we hear about other countries.

Yeah I know how you feel. People think that just coz I live in Ireland I wear green all the time and don't have TV's cars phones computers or anything. Yeah I don't believe all that stereotypical american nonsense

I am with you on this, more or less, especially the homework part. I think kids need more time to relax and be kids, without having so much stress. And I think homework has gotten out of control in recent years, which is part of why I homeschool.

haha, hey its alright sure you americans (im australian) do have a few bad stereotypes but we know that their not true, their just stereotypes !

just like us aussie's, people think that we drink all day everyday, that we say crikey every second word, that we ride kangaroos to school and that we're a bit strange...

but its not true, none of those things are true.

their just stereotypes and you'll just have to learn to live with them, just like all the stereotypes that everyone else has to live with.

just be thankful your not new zealanders. theyve got the worst stereotypes about them haha.

Well since you're so concerned about what other countries think of us then why don't you prove them wrong and do your homework. Get good grades, pass your tests and then you won't give a **** what other countries think. You'll be proof it isn't true.
