Question:
Teens: do you honestly think your mature?

I was reading a question about an 11 year old thinking she was mature. I know I'm not, for what I could be. I know adults don't tend to take me seriously. But do you honestly think your mature, like all around mature. Not just mature in some ways?

If a person goes around life advertising how mature and adult they are chances are they are not. Most people I know who are self-proclaimed mature teens are not (at least from my point of view). Having said that and at risk of sounding hypocritical I think I am on some level. Not because from my perspective everything teens do is childish and I am oh so grown up. I have very childish tastes, read comic books, enjoy animated films and play video games like an average seven years old, so I have the least adult interests possible. Yet, I believe I am a reasonable guy and I am not fixated on appearances, impressions and what other people do or think as others are, I also keep my head cool and calm when people want trouble and my life isn't constantly ruined by mundane things. This doesn't make me superior or better than my peers but it makes me feel a little different. I think these are either signs of being mature or being boring, may be the two things are related.

Edit, goofing around is not a sign of beign immature or mature (at least I think so) being serious and quiet does not equal wisdom, being loud and silly doesn't mean stupid or childish. Just thought I would say that.

I think I'm mature, but like 25 year old mature. I like to go out to hang with my friends at dance clubs and see movies on friday nights. But I also really focus on school (i've never got less than an A in a class) and I can engage in conversation with older people without sounding dumb. I babysit all the time and I don't do anything stupid while I'm there.

I think when your a teen it's all about balance...knowing how to be mature when it's called for, and knowing how to let loose and enjoy yourself because your a kid(:

I definitely think adults should take kids more seriously though. There's a reason kids don't trust older people with certain things, and it's because they always think "Oh, what do they know!" Seriously, there are some adults who are freaking weird.

lol

i answered the same question too, and it was so ridiculous that she thought she wasn't a kid.

i'm 16 and i think i'm mature in some ways.

when i was 12 i went to australia on a student travel group and when i was 13 i went to europe with the same group, so yes i had to be mature enough because my parents weren't there.

but in other ways,no. i mean i'm not helping my mom pay bills, nor do i have a job, and i don't even my license yet and pretty much everyone in my grade does!

honestly, i'm still a kid at heart and i'm trying to enjoy being a kid as long as i still can before i really have to grow up and be an adult.

i would say im mature, im 17 and a guy...i think about things i cant answer, things like why the universe is the way it is...i think about politics a lot, why people are the way they are, and how they'll be the same always. when i was 14 i was questioning the purpose of life and trying to figure out what kind of person i wanted to be. i can still be a smartass though, im not all adult

I'm not mature in the sense that I can financially support myself and whatnot, but for my age (13), I think I'm pretty mature.

I don't drink. I don't go out to parties all the time. I use correct grammar and spelling. I read a lot. I'm willing to admit it when I make a mistake. I volunteer. I get good grades. I'm polite and respectful to everyone. I listen to my parents. I try to be a role model to my little cousins. I'm still a little kid, and I'm not wise or experienced yet. But that doesn't make me immature.

Not all-around, but I honestly DO think I'm more mature than a lot of people my age....but who doesn't like to goof and get in trouble some times? ;)

Nope.

Def. Not.

I wanna live life to the fullest, not waste it with longterm boyfriends, drama and etc. I'm still a kid, I don't wanna act 20 years older than I actually am.

That being said, I can be mature in some situations

I'm definitely not naive. But I would say I'm not completely mature based on the simple fact I don't have much life experience. But I try to listen and base my path off of people that do.

I'm just mature in some ways. Read the question I just posted here in Adolescents. You'll see that I am a bit immature.

No one in the whole world is all-around mature! Anyone who thinks so is obviously mis-guided.

It's mature to be humble about what you've learned and what you know. Selfish people who post online about how much better they are are not better in any way.

Okay

So I'm Sorry and I know this is only for teens.

But honestly none of you are matured or grown yet.

I'm 19 years old .

And I still act like a 15 year old sometimes except in front of my boyfriend!

lol.

God Bless.

Be a kid please!

Stay out of sex.

Eh, i'm a normal teen.

Some ways i'm mature, others i'm not.

Like, i laugh at the stupidest stuff ever, and i do goof off on occasion, but i'm serious when i need to be, and i know how to handle situations with maturity.

yeah, I kind of do...

I'm fifteen, so I can drive and I take care of my younger brothers a lot and I can cook and clean and make good decisions. And in some countries I would be married and popping out babies now.

So yeah, I would say so.

But then I probably won't recognize maturity until I'm an adult, lol.

I'm mature when I think about careers, but everything else no. I love putting people in weird positions and stuff and making that's what she said jokes.

2009-08-08 21:30:39 UTC
no, not at all lol. im 12 almost 13 and im crazy, hyper, and plain weird. but i am all those things in, as my friends would say, a lovable way lol. but i think the fact that im immature is good, i get to explore being a kid still, and i think you need to be a bit immature in order to be what im aspiring to be. an actress/singer/dancer lol. im all into comedic acting, but when it comes to my dreams i guess im kinda mature, in the fact that im very serious about it lol

i go insane when people say all teens know nothing about love. just becasue you're young doesnt make you stupid, and just because you're young doesnt mean you should let adults tell you what you do and do not know. i started dating a guy right at the beginning of freshman year. now we're going into junior year and still dating. we're in love, and absolutely no one can convince us otherwise. if you know you're in love, then you know. the end

yea i honestly do, my mum past away when i was younger so i guess i had to grow up, looking after my little brother while my dad had to work, I know what i want outa life, i always get told i have a good head on my shoulders. iv gone through some stuff that no teenage should of gone through loosing 3 of the most important people in my life, so it makes you grow up i guess.

honestly yes, i do think i'm mature. im 14 and i have a boyfriend and we have been dating for over a year and my mom always tells me that i am not as mature as i think i am but i just don't think she understands. I don't really think i am ALL AROUND mature, but i mostly am i think =]

In some aspects, yes. I have 'motherly instincts' I guess you could say. I am not responsible for anyone but myself though, and I still like little kid things. Yet I have experienced a lot in life already :).

Yeah, I do.

But only about some things.

I'm not when it comes to things like friends and relationships.

And when getting in fights with family, I'm really immature and take the easy way out. Cry.

I am somewhat mature but I would classify myself as immature. Stupid things make me laugh and I say stupid things to piss people off (occasionally).

well it depends. on some things I am. alot of people say that I am. One of my teachers told me that I was wise beyond my years. idk what I did to make her think that. She said that my understanding of life is the understading of someone 4 times my age. I gave someone who was 40 advice on marriage. lol. in that sense. I get the thoughts of people and about love and relationships and wisdom in that sense. I do have to say that my sense of humor is pretty Juvenile. I say alot of

"thats what she said". sorry I am guilty. haha.
