You would be admired and envied for your fair skin in China. The shelves at all the stores that sell beauty care products here are stacked with whitening cream because fair skin is so desirable. My student's mother actually gave me a pretty parasol to protect my skin and seemed sympathetic that I'd gotten more sun. Tanning is most definitely a foreign concept here!
In the winter my skin can become quite pale. My stepbrother changed the lyrics of the song around to teasingly sing "blinded by the white" to me at Christmastime. I am active outdoors during the rest of the year, and in the summer can become lightly tan. Small doses of sun can be beneficial to your health because it's the best source of vitamin D. You won't significantly damage your skin or put yourself at a greater risk for skin cancer with a bit of raw exposure every day so long as you don't get burned, so if you're uncomfortable with your paleness you shouldn't be afraid to do something about it. I think you look lovely fair, though. I remember thinking how your skin was so porcelain and complimented your eyes beautifully in a video of yourself you once posted in a question here.
BQ: Do you know anyone who is really, really pale?
~ Yes. We lovingly call my cousin "Snow White" because she's so fair. My youngest sister is very fair and has almost white-blonde hair. Most of my family is British, and they all become very pale in the English winters.
BQ2: Which three colours look best on you?
~ Green is my signature color. I love it the most, and I think it's most flattering on me. I also like dark blue and pale turquoise. I imagine the colors of autumn would look best on you since your eyes are hazel, like deep green, aubergine, scarlet red and navy.
BQ3: Dark orange chocolate or dark mint chocolate?
~ Dark milk chocolate.
BQ4: Have you ever slipped on ice at school?
~ Yes. I wasn't actually on school property, but my gym class often went to a nearby park and I slipped on the way there. This was when my family lived in NYC for a year. I've never slipped on ice at school in LA for obvious reasons. : )
BQ5: Coffee or tea?
~ COFFEE. I like tea, but I looooove coffee.
BQ6: Have you ever worn an article of clothing inside out in public on accident?
~ A few times. I also went to school once mismatching shoes.
BQ7: What is your favourite insect?
~ I don't really have one. Um. I'll go with caterpillars.
BQ8: Were you a tomboy or girly when you were little (kindergarten to grade two, let's say)?
~ I was a girly tomboy. I would climb trees and run around with the boys while wearing head-to-toe pink.
BQ9: New Orleans accent or English accent?
~ English! It's the accent of home for me.
BQ10: Have you ever found a large or poisonous (poisonous enough to damage humans) spider in your house?
~ No, and I hope I never do.
Thanks for the unique survey, Mercedes. : )
