i recently took a simon baron-cohen empathy quotient test. i scored a 27 on the test. 80 was the maxium.the scoring chart said:
0 - 32 = low (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
33 - 52 = average (most women score about 47 and most men score about 42)
53 - 63 is above average
64 - 80 is very high
80 is maximum
i scored a 27 in the 0-32 range which is low, but i know i DO NOT have aspergers or any type of autism. my only problem is i don't know exactly what empathy means. i answered all the questions on the quiz (60 questions) truthfully. i looked up the word empathy in the dictionary but i didn't understand it. and i want to know if its bad to have low empathy and if im a bad person.
im 15 and female if that matters

I just took the test and scored 26. I want to point out quick that having low empathy doesnt always mean u cant read ppl......I for example think i read ppls feelings very well I just normally dont care. This is slightly odd for me because when i was younger i was the opposite i felt for others problems all the time i just became very cynical over time and noe have lost empathy. I also just took the aspbergers/autism screening and my score definitely took those possibilities out.

No low empathy alone does not make u a bad person.

Empathy is being compassionate to other people (or animals) and there problems and how things are for them the reason the lowest raitings cominly people with aspergers is because they struggle to understand how things are for other people like they could say something for example about someone's weight and not know it had offended that person or not understand how it could offend that person but people who just have low levels of empathy that don't have something like aspergers are people who are quite self centred and generally care less or think less about other people and helping them etc

empathy is basically having the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. like if you watch the news and see that someone's parents got murdered and you feel horrible then you have empathy. because you can put yourself in their shoes and know how horrible it would be to lose someone close to you. having low empathy is better than no empathy!

Empathy is when you feel for other people...you can read other people's emotions, you're "clued in" so to speak.

Basically, you hurt when your friend's hurt. You don't like seeing people unhappy. You can realize when other people are unhappy. Like, when a friend says "I'm fine", but you know they're really not....that kinda thing.

You scored low, so that means you're not good at reading other people's feelings, and you don't feel for other people.

Well I just took that test and I scored a 34, it just means you're not very empathetic (meaning you find it hard to understand and sympathize with the feelings of others
